Re: Wooden Boat Festival

Interesting image. I am not sure it conveys a "festival" to me, but I do like the small amount of reflection at the back.

Re: "PT Visits"

Interesting image. Not sure if it does anything for me, but if it does for you, the artist, then that is what counts.

Re: My second 52, an assortment of images

Week 29 , End of summer... I had my desk top go on the fritz - power problem I think, so I have had to resort to my new laptop for processing. I have also had to rescue some images from CF cards that were not reformatted so that I could stay up to date with my "52 week" process. Please be...

Re: St. Louis Zoo - More birds

Thanks Tom - I did finally figure out what 1.4 was, but for a minute it looked like a really scary bird . Good to know you don't get hassled for using a tripod and I think it is great that you offer your images to the Zoo for free. Often these organizations don't have much of a budget for "phot...

Week 28 - Harvesting the Hay It is that time of year and there is a lot of activity in the farm fields outside the City. This is a false colour infrared image of hay bales. Shot with my 590nm converted 5D III and a 24-105 lens. Processing was in Lightroom and Photoshop CC. https://c3.staticflickr.c...

Re: St. Louis Zoo - More birds

Nice bird images. It took me a minute to figure out what 1.4 was. Looks like the Zoo has lots of critters to photograph. Did you do these all hand-held? I ask because some zoos get really bent out of shape if you carry a tripod around and others don't care as long as you don't interfere with the oth...

Re: St. Louis Zoo - "River's Edge" - part 1

Tom, thanks for the updates on the names and the info on the bush dogs - interesting that not a lot is really known about them. Yup, Hippos can be very dangerous and they can run a lot faster than you might think. I saw my first "land-based" one in Botswana, about 5 years ago and our guide...

Re: Miss Ava

Lovely shot. I like the fact that the background is "subdued" and doesn't detract from the subject.

Re: ST. Louis Zoo - Seals & Sea Lions

I think a lot of zoos, including the one in my home town are putting a lot more time and effort towards research and rehabilitation. Our zoo is actively participating in a Burrowing Owl program in an attempt to restore them to a number of their natural habitats here in Western Canada. These types of...
