It saddens me to forward the news that our good friend and fellow photographer, Matt Quinn, has passed. As some of you may know, he had been battling cancer for a while and was on his way to recovery. Please take a moment to remember him in your prayers. |

I hope you see a tiny bit of Chinn-ish inspiration in the cousin shot, with the glow-y blur.davechinn wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 6:22 pmminniev wrote: ↑Mon Dec 03, 2018 5:21 pmI spun silhouette this week. I well know what that means for me to do, but I went a little different road first, because this was the week that I help my cousin at the annual state Craftsmen Guild festival, and her craft is cutting silhouettes! So, I took a photo of her cutting one. Then, because I felt like I might have shirked my duty, I shot a silhouette of the trees in the swamp this morning and played with them in PS.
What a wonderful & creative idea to include your cousin in your weekly project. I have not found much success with silhouettes, but still try. Your trees in the swamp is an excellent one to view. I'm still able to see some detail which is what appeals to me. I'm liking your chosen tone as well. Most silhouettes seems to be a subject with high backlighting that drowns most details, (at least that's what I have witnessed in the past) but not here. I also find it to be a unique coincidence that I'm posting some form of a silhouette of a ferris wheel into my ever -so - behind 52 project.

Aren't you proud of us for making it into the 12th month of our 52project? I was thinking about that today. We are warriors!
Yes Minnie, I see the tiny bit of Chinn-ish resemblance. When I first started the glow-y blur, I went overboard and still do, hoping to find a happy medium.
The 52 project was a burden sometimes, but yes it is an accomplishment. Warriors? You are, but me? I'm a crawling warrior. I think I will take a break after this 52 project.

I plan to continue with the new year. I have actually done two of them this year, one with Li'l Owls, and one here. They have kept me from going stale, which I am prone to do. It isn't making me rich but they say that learning helps keep the brain from decay, and I need all the help I can get.davechinn wrote: ↑Wed Dec 05, 2018 3:20 pm

This is a mash-up of stuff I was playing with late last night. Textures of various types both made and acquired, slapped around my fireplace and topped off with a little tomten and his pet pig.

This is wonderful Min. Love how you placed tomten and pig such that they were contrasted against the darkness. Love the fabric/texture of the basket in comparison to the other objects. Love how the candy cane and the flowers point towards our two friends. Love how it is sharp and clear up front and then things get hazy in the distance. And seasonal to boot! This is just awesome.

Thanks Dave. I rounded up some extra Christmas art this year to add to my collection. A wheel spin on Texture was an easy one for me, I should spin that one every week!
