belted kingfisher at bird's landing

Yard is under a foot of water (post Dorian high tide) and minnows are easy to catch. Got this shot looking out from the kitchen (these birds spook real easy) - so, lacking detail and went artistic.

I am so jealous. I've never got a decent shot of a kingfisher. This is excellent, wings outspread, minnow in mouth, little claws silhouetted against the background. So much rich detail. You are in Audubon mode now. This latest set is just exquisite. Keep them coming.

blush.. I was in panic mode when he was flying. He was sitting there and suddenly swooped down and plucked out the fish (THAT would have been the shot), and then I got him a few frames flying back to his perch -- where we see him in the instant of landing.

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

thanks Frank, no timing, just LUCK!!! Sometimes if you push the button, you see it later on the computer. processing wise, I tried to give the bird depth and detail..

This one is just as wonderful as the first one. Love it. The "meal" is a bit more of the focus here. Excellent work, both of them. Print and frame them as a paired set.
