It saddens me to forward the news that our good friend and fellow photographer, Matt Quinn, has passed. As some of you may know, he had been battling cancer for a while and was on his way to recovery. Please take a moment to remember him in your prayers. |

My Image - Your Look: Ten Spoon
Hey everyone,
WIth a few hours before my flight, I took a drive up a beautiful scenic canyon looking for fall trees and came upon the Ten Spoon Vineyard and Winery. I have presented a few variations on what I think the image should look like but am curious what you would do with it. The challenge, if you decide to accept, is to post your best edit. Make it as close to what you think the scene should look like, or make it as wacky and crazy as you want, the decision is yours, but either way, post them here and if all goes well we'll judge them and talk about why they won.
We'll give this a week or two depending on how many people participate and if this goes well we'll make a weekly challenge. Good luck and have fun with it! S-

My very amateurish entry
1. Distort, stretch, crop
2. Topaz Detail pre-set (sunset)
3. Nik tonal contrast at 60%
4. Topaz watercolor adjusted for slightly more detail
5. Nik detail extractor at 35%
6. selective lightening, darkening
7. addition of northern harrier hawk I shot (sitting on a post) in April
Many thanks for the fun, Steve!

A bit of HDR Pano here (with perhaps a hint of Skyscape?) ....... and this one is open range too (tried to get rid of the fence, but there are some artifacts left). Touches of Aurora 2018 for PC, Topaz Adjust, and NIK Output Sharpener in brush mode (trees and buildings at foot of mountain only).

It has a whole different look in a scene that's all too familiar. Neat! S-

This image is so appealing, I had to try, but I like mine no better than I liked yours. I liked the first version you posted a lot, and I also liked Frank's edit, though I'd be hard put to choose one.
An image such as this has "good bones"; it is like a beautiful model, and a well-taken photo is always likely to yield a nice result no matter how you dress it up. A multitude of processing approaches would still give you a nice final result that the Ten Spoon winery ought to appreciate.

I love challenges like this where we get to see the way each of us applies makeup to an image.
Yours is moodier, somewhere between my first and last. Thank you so much for sharing this with us! S-

A beautiful image Steve !!! So colorful, I was tempted to convert to B&W but I felt it wouldn't give it the justice that's so well deserved.
Thank you for allowing us to process/edit your image.
