Bob, This looks unreal to me, like a computer-generated scene. The "structure in the left middle especially looks Harry Potterish. If those are trees in the middle distance, then that structure is monstrous. Where is this? And where were you standing to take this. Matt

Matt, the canyon is Canyon De Chelly (pronounced Shayee). It's in North Eastern Arizona, very near Chinle. If you have Google Earth, enter Tsegi Overlook. I walked a bit north of the overlook along the canyon edge to get to this location, 36°08'28.85"N, 109°30'41.72"W. I think the canyon depth at this point is about 400 ft. There is a house just below center with a corral running up and right of it.

I'm going to go back up there in a week or so to photograph another part of the canyon, hopefully from about the same location as Ansel Adams.
