Weaving In Black and White
My morning walk in rain and fog found this lady at work on the garden fence. There was a stream of fog suspended behind, as it was already starting to lift and dissipate. Does the fog take away or add? Should I mitigate it and if so What should I do? I know I can do more with it at home with layers.

So do that when you get home...you have a wonderful capture here however you would like to present it...as for your questions, without your description I would not have known it was fog so it just boils down to how to treat that background...for me I wouldn't totally mitigate it as I think it adds some depth to the image. I feel sure you will play at home and come up with a suitable result.....

Any suggestions for the mitigation, other than softening the mist (the only thing I’ve planned yet), and some selective noise control.Psjunkie wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 12:16 amSo do that when you get home...you have a wonderful capture here however you would like to present it...as for your questions, without your description I would not have known it was fog so it just boils down to how to treat that background...for me I wouldn't totally mitigate it as I think it adds some depth to the image. Really depends on how "you" want it presented minniev...the image as is, lacks much in the way of zone 0, 1, 9, or 10, having said that I don't feel all images have to have all the zones to be worthy of admiration, so it really depends on how much contrast or lack of you want to portray....I think softness could be a start..Hear I go again about muddy but you might try a touch of negative offset..

Overall quite nice. I'm thinking a square crop.

Thanks Ernst, and I think you’re right about that. This is one I wanta keep, so I appreciate the suggestions. I love spiderwebs and her “quilt pattern” is a little different from the others I’ve photographed. She’s more decorative than average.Ernst-Ulrich Schafer wrote: ↑Thu Sep 13, 2018 2:20 pmOverall quite nice. I'm thinking a square crop.

Blacks, grays, whites.
A quick test to how and where I want to go is to use "levels" slider control in P/S
Hold down the Alt button as you move the slider and it will show clipping. Move the mid_gray slider to get your over all effect between whites and blacks.
I sometimes use this as a jumping off point as it is an easy way to start.
Final picture? Well. How do you see it? Soft or more contrasty? Do one of each and let us know
Agree with Ernst.
Have fun;

An all black background might be expected but the fog gives it an unexpected appeal and the directional lighting is perfect bringing you from left to right and back to the web again. I can't imagine the image any other way! S-minniev wrote: ↑Wed Sep 12, 2018 11:17 pmMy morning walk in rain and fog found this lady at work on the garden fence.
