'Planes'

Post by davechinn »

Just a couple planes from my recent airport days visit and one of 'Air Force One' that I have never seen before, other than television and other people's photos.

The first two were taken with a 16mm fisheye. Always need practice with that lens. Why the title for 'Cincinnati Kid', well that was on the side of nose.

Once again, you make some great images with that fish eye, with creative angles and perspectives on planes unlike any I've seen. You're working up another original series here, Dave. I'm very interesting in your processing on the second and third. They look like drawings. I wanta know what you're doing there. I really like them both.

They'e terrific. You've handled the 16mm masterfully! Don't say you didn't! As always your stuff is so wonderfully, literally atmospheric. Great stuff.

Thanks Minnie !!! I haven't used the fisheye lens in awhile and I figured I should get some practice in prior to Monhegan Island.

You are correct somewhat with the processing I used here. This and others I have processed was due to Sharon & I going to open house after open house back before we decided to build. There was one open house we went through that had this large canvas of a horse. I have been trying to duplicate the style from memory since I didn't take a photo for reference. My intended subject duplication (if successful) will be our bulldog. At least that was my intention, but I still need approval .... from Sharon, because I have not mentioned it yet.

Here is a link to the tutorial that I started with, but I didn't follow it all the way through. I got to a point in which I mixed a lot things up and not necessarily in any order. I didn't reduce the saturation opacity 100% and the blur layer the tutorial instructed, which you will get a better understanding after viewing the tutorial. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K43-_zhQZiM A mix of Color Efex 4 a little of Silver Efex with reduced opacity to retain some of the color.

My first attempt at our bulldog, but I'm not convinced yet that I will use it. I may take another photo and start from scratch.

I'm terrible at explaining things, so it may be best to wait for a verbal description. My goal was to be a drawing, photograph combination, if that makes any sense.
