How To Make An Osprey

Post by minniev » Wed Mar 21, 2018 3:36 pm

My boat venture on the Pascagoula River brought me close to several osprey subdivisions, and one couple, having finished their spring remodeling, was in the mood to start their family.

Birds mating behaviors (and anatomy) are not exactly like other animals. All suggestions appreciated. Already heavily cropped, of course. Wouldn't have tried to get closer if I could, and at this distance they were unconcerned about us.

(I prefer to present pictures in albums because I can put them in specific order.)

All the great photographers use cameras! No, really. :|

Thanks Chuck. They did get a bit more personal, in their birdly way, but the ones with the male fluttering above were more post-worthy.

It was luck, Dave. I try to get out on the Pascagoula at least once a year, and going in spring is what gave me the opportunity. There were several nesting pairs but the others were still busy building and hadn't had time to get romantic yet.

Thank you Dave - I wasn't as prepared as I wished, but did manage a few keepers of this lovely couple. I"m not at all adept at shooting from a small boat.
