Goldeneye

Post by minniev »

This blue heron family built a nest next to the little league field. They've done this before and it failed, so I'm not sure this will work. I shot from the road, so as not to disturb them unduly, but there was still a golden eye fixed on me. I saw them building two days ago in a fierce hurry, but was on babysitting duty with no camera. I went back yesterday hoping to see more of the building, but instead, someone is sitting purposefully, so I think there was a bit of a housing emergency on Saturday. I think this is Mr. Blue, because of his beak, but can't be sure unless I see them together to compare. All suggestions appreciated. I did blur the background a little, but did not try to take all the detail out. I don't think I could select well enough around all those sticks to do it well.

A Goldeneye to a GoodEye !!! Nice observation to capture this blue heron Minnie. Everything that needs to be is tack sharp and full of pleasing color. No suggestions for any improvements.

Thanks. I’ll have more if they stay there.

Thanks. A blue heron nest beside a busy 4 lane road is an oddity. I’ll be back.

I like this shot, my instinct would have been to zoom in but your shot conveys the emotion of the scene and we're better for it! S-
