A very lovely image minniev...I must agree with Piet about the bird not needing a shadow..another mode of separation of subject from background is blurring and sharpening...Correct the darkened area next to the head first, then I'd give that a try using a high pass filter, invert it for the blur and then maybe lighten just the back ground for an extra bit of help...Piet's done a nice job here with a wonderful soft look..my vision would not blend quite as well and be more pronounced..

Thank you for the loveliest compliment! I'm glad you liked it. As you can see, I was going for an opposite to the jay photo. They are both about the same in terms of natural lighting, but I wanted to try to sort of high key pastel for this one.
And thank you for showing me a way out with that darkening. I knew it wasn't right, but didn't think to just go the other way with it.

Thanks, Frank. I didn't try any detail work, so I will experiment with what you say and see what happens. Will let you know how it turns out.Psjunkie wrote: ↑Mon Feb 11, 2019 12:38 amA very lovely image minniev...I must agree with Piet about the bird not needing a shadow..another mode of separation of subject from background is blurring and sharpening...Correct the darkened area next to the head first, then I'd give that a try using a high pass filter, invert it for the blur and then maybe lighten just the back ground for an extra bit of help...Piet's done a nice job here with a wonderful soft look..my vision would not blend quite as well and be more pronounced..
