Brotherhood of Fishermen

Post by minniev »

The pelicans and cormorants formed an odd coalition yesterday at dawn. I shot directly into the sun with the notion of almost blowing detail but not quite, which accounts for some of the oddness of this one. I haven't done much editing on this one so am open to suggestions or demonstrations...

I don't like it, it has too many linear aspects - line.. line.. line.. … now having said that - some people (not me), like a pattern of lines - so since you have them, figure out how to best EMPHASIZE them. Done properly and with the right audience, you have a three million dollar image here.

Yes. It is gursky-ish. Of course, the question is “then now what?”

make it more gursky-ish -- (well I tried anyway)… my strategy was to bold things up by using multiply layers and then the masks would always empower the effect towards the bottom. The bottom got more saturation, more darkness.. Tried to emphasize the horizontal lines and still keep depth in the image.

I like both your versions. There was indeed a lot of yellow/gold in the fog that morning. I'll work some more on this one. Gursky will inspire me. Even though I never much liked his images. Thanks for your help guys!

I like the high-key here but the waterline is a skosh off-kilter. S-
